Nick has teaching guitar consistently for over 7 years across a variety of settings, everywhere from the biggest guitar retailer in the USA, to the park districts of the Chicago area. Nick has been lucky enough to work with students across a diverse spectrum of backgrounds as well. His students have ranged from 5 year old kids beginning a lifelong journey, to 30 year olds who write their own songs and wanted to go to the next level, even to an 80 year old who just wanted to learn Beatles songs on ukulele. 

Through his teaching, Nick encourages students to be their authentic self, exploring and helping them along with the styles of music that first drew them to the instrument, while also being sure to instill a very solid understanding of the fundamental aspects of guitar that are central to every musical style. 

When teaching a new concept, Nick makes sure to cover it thoroughly in the ways that work best for the student’s unique skill set. As a teacher, Nick strives to be very observant and understanding of the students’ needs both as a teacher and as a person in general. This helps Nick figure out what each student’s unique skill set actually is, and what teaching method(s) will work best based on that. As you go through the material, Nick is always very patient with the students, making sure they are totally comfortable while pushing them to dig deeper with the material. 

Lastly, Nick believes in providing enthusiasm and positivity to all of my students. Playing music has given Nick the happiest times of his life, and he always reminds himself that he gets to give his students some of the skills that will allow them to have these types of experiences as well. Every day, Nick feels extremely grateful that he has had the resources to pursue music as a career, and tries his best to reflect that as it extends to teaching also. Music is a gift, and while it takes dedication to learn, above all it is supposed to be fun and inspiring.
